Our Mission & Vision

Mission Statement

Bridging the Gap for Hope exists to walk alongside caregivers and families navigating life's most overwhelming seasons — connecting them to resources, support, and the hope they need to keep going.

Vision Statement

We envision a future where communities rally around their caregivers — offering real, practical support so that caring for others doesn't mean losing yourself in the process, and where caregivers are seen, supported, and never left to figure it out alone.

No one should have to navigate life's most difficult seasons alone. Whether you're caring for an aging parent, supporting a loved one through illness or rehabilitation, or searching for community resources, our goal is to help you find the right direction with confidence — so you can spend less time searching and more time caring for the people you love.

Our Founder's Vision
We exist to bridge the gap between caregivers and the resources they need most — empowering them with support, guidance, and hope every step of the way.

How We Help — Our Continuum of Care

Bridging the Gap for Hope is a Continuum of Care Network. We research the free and public resources caregivers and families need, and deliver them as a personalized resource packet — so no one has to navigate life's hardest seasons alone. We do this without collecting medical records or diagnoses; we simply help you find what's already out there.

We start by listening. Together we identify what you and your loved one actually need.

2 · Prepare

We research and assemble a personalized resource packet built around your situation.

3 · Empower

With the right information in hand, you can make confident, informed decisions.

4 · Thrive

The right resources at the right time make the journey smoother and less overwhelming.

5 · Support

Our services are community-funded, so help can reach the families who need it most.

About the Founder

Donna Lawing · Founder & Executive Director

Bridging the Gap for Hope was founded by Donna Lawing, who knows firsthand how overwhelming it is to care for a loved one while trying to find the right resources at the right time. After 16 years of caregiving and navigating the systems — and still navigating them today — she built BTG4Hope to walk alongside caregivers and families, researching and assembling personalized resource packets so no one has to face life's hardest seasons alone.

Working from her home in Norfolk, Virginia, Donna started this with a simple belief: that everyone deserves a guide when they feel lost. What began as one person helping her own family has grown into an organization dedicated to helping many.
